The violent crime rate decreased in the region in 2003 compared with 2002, while property crime continued to rise for the third consecutive year, according to SANDAG’s annual report on crime statistics.

The annual Crime in the San Diego Region report was presented to SANDAG’s Public Safety Committee (PSC), Friday, April 9, 2004. Chula Vista Mayor Steve Padilla as Chair, and City of Encinitas Councilmember Christy Guerin, as Vice Chair are leading the new SANDAG committee. SANDAG’s Public Safety Committee (PSC) has been launched to advise the SANDAG Board of Directors on major policy-level matters related to public safety. The committee was established as part of the ARJIS/SANDAG consolidation.
