Bike to Work Day 2006 is almost here!

With over 700 miles of bikeways in the San Diego region, bicycling is an excellent alternative to driving because it gets you out of the daily traffic grind and on the road to a healthier, less stressful commute. This means that you’ll be more energetic when you get to work and more relaxed when you’re ready to unwind at the day’s end. Join RideLink on May 19th for Bike to Work Day 2006 — see how fun and rewarding making a change in your commute can be!

Each year, over 4,000 commuters celebrate Bike to Work Day when they choose the freedom of their bicycles over the hassles of driving. And it’s so easy! Whether you’re an individual or an employer group, SANDAG’s RideLink program provides resources to get your bike in shape for the ride and educate you about safe biking practices.

“Clif Bar Pit Stops” will be open from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. the day of the event for riders to rest up, refuel, and swap stories about the best shortcuts with fellow commuters. The Pit Stops will provide FREE bottles of water, fresh fruit, and Clif Bars to all participants. Major sponsors this year include SANDAG, San Diego County Credit Union, and Clif Bar.

For more information on this year's Bike to Work Day — how to register, become a major sponsor, or manage a Pit Stop — go to www.RideLink.org, e-mail biking@sandag.org, or call 1-800-COMMUTE (266-6883), option 3.
