The results of the 2005 SANDAG Public Opinion Survey are now available online. SANDAG’s Overall Work Program (OWP) includes an outreach and citizen participation component, which is designed to both include residents of the San Diego region in the regional planning process and keep SANDAG aware of the issues that matter to people who live in the region. Traditionally, a key element of the outreach and citizen participation component has been a periodic survey of adult residents in the region.
In May 2005, SANDAG conducted a telephone survey of 900 randomly selected households throughout the region. SANDAG has conducted public opinion surveys periodically since the 1970s. The last survey was conducted in 2002. This survey covered a wide range of topics and regional issues. The issues generally fall into five major categories environment, economic health, transportation, housing, and crime. Traffic and housing continue at the top of the list of the region’s most pressing problems.
