In an effort to more effectively provide the public with important regional information, the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) has completely revamped its Public Information Office (PIO) Web site.
The new and improved PIO page is loaded with benefits for the general public, community groups and government organizations, and the news media. “It is really intended to be a one-stop-shop for those seeking SANDAG information,” said Troy Anderson, senior public information officer. “Visitors can sign-up for rEgion, the agency’s electronic newsletter; obtain important contact information; access and order a vast library of publications including fact sheets, information bulletins, and regional reports; and checkout the latest news.” The new page also aides in directing visitors to frequently requested demographic and data repositories.
The For Reporters page is tailored to the needs of the news media. A reporter visiting the SANDAG site can easily sign-up to receive press releases and media advisories via E-mail or fax and schedule interviews with agency experts in key areas such as transportation, planning and land use, environment, housing, borders, public safety, and regional economics. “We have also added hi-resolution images to the site to supplement the information that we provide the media and are in the process of incorporating streaming video,” explained
Anderson
. “In the end, it adds more punch to the information and communicates a more complete picture to the public.”
