Independent Taxpayer Oversight Committee highlights accomplishments

The Independent Taxpayer Oversight Committee (ITOC) has released its first annual report. One of the key requirements of the 2004 TransNet Extension Ordinance and Expenditure Plan was the establishment of the ITOC to ensure that the voter approved mandates of the new ordinance are carried out, and to recommend improvements and enhancements to the TransNet program.

When the ITOC assumes responsibility for audits, starting in FY 2009, the annual report will focus on findings and recommendations resulting from the annual fiscal audit cycle. This first annual report covers the group’s first year of work through FY 2006 — major ITOC roles and responsibilities; the primary areas of emphasis and major accomplishments; and upcoming activities for the next year. The annual report process will be used by ITOC to inform the SANDAG Board of Directors and the public about the ITOC and its major work efforts, and to solicit input from a wide range of interest groups and the general public.
