RCP Update
Public Comments Still Accepted

How does our region grow? More than a year in the making, the draft Regional Comprehensive Plan is available for public review and comment.

During the past 18 months, residents, stakeholders, regional infrastructure providers, and elected officials from throughout the region have been working together with SANDAG to prepare the draft RCP and one of its key components, the Integrated Regional Infrastructure Strategy (IRIS). The IRIS is an investment strategy that will help the region meet its collective infrastructure needs.

The RCP emphasizes the critical link between transportation and land use planning and development, and demonstrates how these connections can be strengthened. It calls on the region’s 18 cities and county government to focus transportation and other infrastructure investments in our urban areas where jobs, homes, schools, recreation, and shopping are closer together. At the same time, better transportation connections will help shorten commutes and will make transit, biking, and walking more convenient.

Now is your opportunity to review the plan and tell us what you think. How should our region grow? SANDAG is accepting public comment through March 1, 2004. For more information, visit www.sandag.org/rcp or call (619) 699-1900.
