San Diego gears up for Bike to Work Day

Mark your calendars — the official Bike to Work is coming in May! But any day can be a bike to work day. A 20-minute power point presentation is being presented around the state designed to encourage employers to promote bicycling to work. This is part of a three step program that strives to:

  • Give employers the basic support needed to accommodate bike commuters. A lunchtime training of employees is designed to generate employer support of bicycle commuting.

  • Provide employers with basic safety information and answer questions.

  • Provides scholarships to those interested in taking a Road 1 bicycle education training class. The Road 1 class is an 8 hour class that provides in depth safety education, and teaches basic bicycling skills and minor bicycle repairs.

The California Bicycle Coalition has obtained a grant from the Health Transportation Network/DHS to provide this free training, and all trainings are conducted by a certified cycling instructor. Please contact K.C. Butler, Cycling Promotions West at 858-679-1027 for more information on this training program.
