MTS launches SAFEWATCH
MTS
The Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) has made the safety and security of its customers a top priority. MTS continues to install new technologies and programs to make its system one of the safest in the industry.

Beginning in February 2007, SAFEWATCH will provide MTS riders with a direct telephone connection — (619) 557-4500 — to MTS operations and security. Riders can call this number to report unsafe behavior or acts of vandalism. The confidential SAFEWATCH number is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and offers assistance in English and Spanish.

SAFEWATCH is just one facet of MTS’ improved security measures. MTS employs a large, well--trained security team and has equipped more than a dozen of its stations with state-of-the art security cameras. Buses and Trolleys also are being installed with on-board cameras.
