On December 19, 2003, the SANDAG Board of Directors released the draft Regional Comprehensive Plan (RCP) for an initial review period lasting through March 1, 2004. SANDAG directors are scheduled to consider approving the RCP and take action on associated environmental documentation in June 2004.
The RCP serves as the long-term planning framework for the San Diego region. Based on the principles of smart growth, the RCP better integrates our local land use and transportation decisions, and focuses attention on where and how we want to grow as a region, providing a positive alternative to where we could end up if we continue without a plan that looks at future growth. The schedule for the public review period and associated environmental documentation is listed below:
Initial Review Period for draft RCP: December 19, 2003 - March 1, 2004
Presentations on draft RCP throughout Region: January - March 2004
Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) released to public: March 26, 2004
Workshops on draft RCP and draft EIR: April - mid-May 2004
Certification of final EIR and adoption of final RCP: June 25, 2004
To review the Draft RCP online, please visit www.sandag.org/rcp. Copies of the report may be requested by e-mailing rcp@sandag.org.
