SANDAG elects Board officers for 2007

The SANDAG Board of Directors elected Lemon Grove Mayor Mary Teresa Sessom as Chair, Escondido Mayor Lori Holt Pfeiler as First Vice Chair, and Encinitas Deputy Mayor Jerome Stocks as Second Vice Chair, for one-year terms through 2007.

The newly elected officers have been instrumental in developing and implementing the innovative Regional Comprehensive Plan, the ambitious and multi-faceted Regional Transportation Plan, and the TransNet Early Action Program.

“Mayors Sessom and Pfeiler, and Deputy Mayor Stocks have built solid reputations among locally elected officials throughout the county,” said past SANDAG Chair and Poway Mayor Mickey Cafagna. “They have been able to forge regional solutions among their colleagues for many of this region’s most vexing challenges such as traffic congestion, housing, and public safety, and together, they will carry on the tradition of outstanding Board leadership. Their collaborative focus will continue to improve our region’s quality of life.”

Mayor Sessom takes over as Chair from Mayor Cafagna who will continue to represent his north county city on the Board. Mayor Cafagna has been applauded for the vision he brought to the Board during his tenure as Chair.
