New maps provide unique look at region

regional mapSANDAG has provided two new ways to view the San Diego region with the addition of a ZIP Code map and a transit ridership map to its popular collection of printed maps.

The 2006 San Diego Region ZIP Code Map offers a glimpse at the 114 unique postal identifiers located within the county. The 2006 San Diego Region Transit Ridership Map displays average weekday transit ridership volumes, in thousands. This map shows how the region’s 90 million annual transit passengers use bus, trolley, and rail services.

“We have received numerous requests for a visual display of the region’s ZIP Codes,” said Karen Lamphere, SANDAG Principal Planner. “Over the years, we’ve built a great reputation for designing and producing high-quality maps that help people understand the San Diego region in a way that’s not possible by reading a report or a table of numbers. With poster-size maps that display Average Daily Traffic Volumes, Planned Land Use, Land Available for Development, Census Tracts, and satellite imagery of the San Diego/Baja California border area, our collection has something for everyone.”

SANDAG printed maps can be purchased from the Public Information Office for $10 each.

“If we don’t have what you’re looking for in our current catalog, we can create a custom map for you. Maps at any size or scale, color or black and white, can be created by the SANDAG Service Bureau,” added Lamphere. “The cost is determined on a project by project basis.”
