Vanpool. Your passport to freedom.
Vanpooling is a comfortable, cost-effective, and convenient way for groups of people to share the ride. RideLink will help you get started by providing a list of people to vanpool with, and in some cases, SANDAG will help pay the bill. That’s money back in your pocket and cars off the road!
Freedom from traffic
You can take advantage of carpool lanes. You can sleep. Read. Work. Or talk on your cell phone while someone else does the driving.
Freedom from high commute costs
The average SANDAG vanpooler spends $50-$90 a month to commute to work – that includes each person’s share of the cost of the van lease and parking. Many vanpools also qualify for up to $400 per month subsidy from SANDAG. With more than 500 vans on the road in San Diego County each year – there’s room for you to join one or create your own. Vanpool costs include lease of vehicle, insurance, and maintenance.
Freedom from hassle
There’s no need to worry about being stranded if you have to stay late or need to get home in a hurry. The Guaranteed Ride Home program will provide a taxi or rental car (depending on the distance between work and home) for those times when you have to work overtime or have an emergency.
Call RideLink by dialing 511 (say RideLink when prompted) to create a vanpool. Or fill out a RideShare Application Form to receive a free personalized list of other commuters who could share the ride to work or school.
Once you have enough passengers to start a vanpool contact each vanpool provider listed below. Prices can vary, so ask each provider for a bid.
