Guaranteed Ride Home

San Diego region commuters benefit both themselves and the environment by taking alternative modes of transportation to work. Some people, however, may be hesitant about taking transit, or joining a carpool or vanpool because they worry that if they have to stay late or need to get home in a hurry they would be stuck.

Well, there is no need to be concerned about getting stranded. The RideLink Guaranteed Ride Home program will provide a taxi or rental car (depending on the distance between work and home) for those times when you have to work overtime or have an emergency. Eligible commuters are those who carpool, vanpool, bike, use the COASTER, or Premium Express Bus service to get to work at least three times per week. Just call 511 (say RideLink when prompted) and register or fill out an application and mail it to RideLink today.

To use the Guaranteed Ride Home program, registered participants must have one of the following situations:

  • Personal or family illness
  • Unscheduled overtime (with a supervisor's approval)
  • Stranded at work due to your carpool or vanpool driver leaving

The program can be used up to three times per enrollment year by registered participants with a $3 co-pay and will take you home or back to your car parked at a transit station or Park & Ride.

To join the more than 1,300 currently enrolled in the Guaranteed Ride Home program, fill out the application and send it in today or dial 511 and ask for RideLink.
