Save July 17 for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of State Route 56! The 9.3-mile-highway between I-5 and I-15 is nearing completion and plans are underway for a gala celebration. San Diego Mayor Dick Murphy, Caltrans, and SANDAG are hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, July 17.

State Route 56 has been funded, in part, by the local half-penny sales tax known as TransNet as well as with state and federal dollars. The new highway is a critical east-west connection between Interstates 5 and 15.
