Count on the SANDAG Service BureauSANDAG Service Bureau
for your next research project

The SANDAG Service Bureau has thrived since its launch in mid-2005, providing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analysis and mapping, demographic and economic studies, transportation modeling and analysis. Bureau staff also offer criminal justice studies, and survey design and analysis to public agencies, businesses, and other organizations on a fee-for-service basis.

“Our primary goal is to provide unsurpassed customer service,” explains Cheryl Mason, Service Bureau Manager. “When you work with the Service Bureau, you'll find that our team of skilled researchers, statisticians, technologists, and established industry veterans has the experience and resources to get the job done right.”

A recent addition to the team is Andrew Gordon, who joined the Service Bureau as a GIS Analyst after completing his master’s degree in Geography at San Diego State University. “GIS allows the Service Bureau to tailor data and analysis to customers’ specific areas of interest, rather than providing a one-size-fits-all approach,” explains Gordon.

Service Bureau work conducted to date includes an enlightening ridership survey on the Green Line Trolley, which opened to the public in July 2005; a comprehensive environmental scan for MiraCosta Community College; collaboration with the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce to provide demographic information to clients of the Chamber’s recently-launched Small Business Success Center; extensive GIS mapping and analysis for City of San Diego community plan updates; and assisting local agencies with updates of the housing elements of their general plans.

For general information about the Service Bureau or to discuss how it can assist you with a project, contact Cheryl Mason at (619) 699-1951 or cma@sandag.org. Need assistance with a custom GIS project? Andrew Gordon can be reached at (619) 699-6965 or ago@sandag.org.
