Web site helps Keep San Diego Moving Keep San Diego Moving

The TransNet Early Action Program Web site – www.KeepSanDiegoMoving.com – has been revamped and relaunched. The redesign has made the site a simpler, faster, and easier-to-use resource for finding information about major projects funded with the region’s half-cent sales tax for transportation infrastructure improvements.

First approved by voters in 1987 to fund regional highway, local road, and transit projects, the TransNet half-cent sales tax was renewed for an additional 40 years in 2004. The TransNet extension will generate $14 billion. SANDAG, which administers the program, is bonding against the tax income, then leveraging that money to draw in state and federal matching funds to pay for major infrastructure improvements.

KeepSanDiegoMoving.com is the clearinghouse for information about the first phase of projects being constructed with TransNet extension money, such as new express lanes on Interstate 15 and the widening of State Route 76. In all, the site includes details on improvement plans for Interstates 5, 15, and 805, as well as State Routes 52 and 76, and the Mid-Coast Corridor. In addition to general descriptions, fact sheets, questions and answers, maps and other information, the site also features theTransNet Dashboard. The Dashboard, which is regularly updated, provides detailed schedule and budget numbers about the various projects.

In addition to back-of-the-house improvements that made KeepSanDiegoMoving.com faster and easier-to-use, the look of the site was completely redone and streamlined, and the copy was reviewed and updated. In the coming months, additional improvements will include updated maps and new features on the site.
