RCP Update
Final Round of Public Workshops

Your vision for our future. After more than a year of preparation, draft Regional Comprehensive Plan (RCP) is being circulated for public review and comment. Now is your opportunity to tell us what you think.

The RCP serves as the long-term planning framework for the San Diego region. It lays a foundation to connect city and regional policy decisions that support our shared vision of the future. It balances population, housing, and employment growth with habitat preservation, agriculture, open space, and infrastructure needs. The RCP moves us toward a more sustainable future – a future with more choices and opportunities for all residents of the region.

During the past year and a half, citizens, elected officials, and stakeholders from throughout the San Diego region have been working together with SANDAG to prepare the draft Regional Comprehensive Plan. On December 19, 2003, the SANDAG Board of Directors accepted the draft RCP for an initial review period lasting through March 1, 2004.

Now that the draft plan is available for public review, further outreach efforts are underway to ask for additional comments and input. In April, a third series of public workshops on the draft RCP and draft Program Environmental Impact Report (EIR) will be held, and in June, the SANDAG Board will be asked to certify the final EIR and adopt the final RCP.

These workshops present a unique opportunity for residents to come together as a community to weigh in on important issues that will affect our region’s future. Please visit the RCP Workshops for workshop locations, maps, and other information.
