Progress continues on SR 52 Construction to widen westbound SR 52 from two lanes to three lanes from the Mission Trails Summit to Santo Road is moving swiftly and will be completed in spring 2007. An effort to extend this westbound segment to I-15 will begin in fall 2007. Widening of the eastbound section of SR 52 from the Mission Trails Summit to Mast Boulevard also will begin in fall 2007. In addition to these critical widening projects, construction on the final piece of SR 52 east from SR 125 to SR 67 will begin in fall 2007. This $470 million, four-lane stretch is scheduled for completion in 2010/2011, and will consist of three pieces — SR 125 to Cuyamaca Street, Cuyamaca Street to Magnolia Avenue, and the SR 67 interchange. Adding to these improvements on SR 52 will be Managed Lanes between SR 125 and I-15, currently in the early environmental analysis phase. Future plans include the construction of High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lanes west from I-15 to I-805. Together, these projects are expected to ease congestion along the booming corridor as Santee, like the rest of the region, continues to grow. The latest Quarterly Transportation Progress Report on the region’s other major transportation projects is available on the SANDAG Web site. Project Manager: |
