TransNet Keeps San Diego Moving

The Independent Taxpayer Oversight Committee (ITOC) is seeking volunteers to provide independent oversight of the TransNet program — the local half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements.

Membership on the ITOC is based on specific professional skills and experience. Individuals are needed to fill three open positions on the seven-member committee: a licensed architect, civil engineer, or traffic engineer; a chief executive officer or senior-level decision-maker for a major private sector employer; and a biologist or environmental scientist.

Committee members scrutinize transportation expenditures, and function in an independent and open manner to ensure that all voter mandates contained in the TransNet ordinance are complete. Members also work to collectively develop positive, constructive recommendations for enhancements to the financial integrity and performance of the TransNet program. ITOC members are subject to SANDAG conflict of interest policies.

Application materials are due March 23, 2007, and are available below in PDF format or by contacting the Public Information Office at (619) 699-1950 or pio@sandag.org. For additional information please contact Craig Scott, TransNet Project Manager, at (619) 699-1926 or csc@sandag.org.
